Let’s go through the great things about this game. You control 1-5 characters in each mission where you must use stealth and strategy to achieve your objectives. My only experience with tactics games like this was the old Commandos game almost 15 years ago. Shadow Tactics is a stealth based real time tactics game set in Edo-era Japan. But I never played it before getting it on my PS4. I have had this game on Steam for a long while, it was just one of those games I purchased randomly from a sale after just glancing at the screenshots and the rating. I hope it review can direct some more potential new fans to this amazing game, especially since a new standalone DLC called Aiko’s Choice is releasing in December 2021. This review is basically a compilation of my own praises for this game. Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam 4th Highest Rated RTS Game on Steam via 131st Highest Rated game on Steam via If that alone isn’t enough to make someone try it, I don’t know what is.
#GAMES LIKE SHADOW TACTICS PS4#
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, it is 157th highest rated game by Metascore on for PS4 (higher than Ghost of Tsushima!!!) and has a good user score of 8.2. As of October 2021, it has a 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” user rating on Steam, is the 131st highest rated game (near legendary games like Dark Souls 3) of all time on Steam and the 4th highest rated RTS game (source: ). This game came out in 2017 and was acclaimed by both critics and audiences alike. I realize I’m not really saying anything new here. I even bought the official soundtrack on Steam to support the developer. That is not to say that this game wouldn’t be great if the price was higher. And it was an INCREDIBLE game for that price. I think I got it for around 5 dollars or less on both Steam and the Playstation Store. The player has to carefully evaluate his options in order to master the challenging missions: how will the characters behave as a team? Which one is best equipped for each task? How can they best master the given missions? Come up with your own ingenious tactics to vanquish enemies and complete missions.I don’t remember how I first found Shadow Tactics, think I saw it when it was on a Steam sale. The mysterious marksman Takuma however, relies on his sniper rifle and takes care of the enemies from a distance.

And the street child Yuki places traps and decoys enemies towards their deadly fate. Aiko is a master of camouflage when she distracts enemies disguised as a Geisha.

Samurai Mugen prefers a more powerful approach and can defeat more fiends at one time, but thus also forfeiting flexibility. One of the leaders of this team is Hayato, an agile ninja, who clears the way through his enemies silently, with his sword and shuriken. The characters develop their own dynamic and each member will have to face their own personal demons. Yet over the course of many missions, trust is won and friendships are made. Working together as a team seems impossible at first. The group is composed of very different personalities.

Set traps, poison your opponents or completely avoid enemy contact. Choose your approach when infiltrating mighty castles, snowy mountain monasteries or hidden forest camps.

Take control of a team of deadly specialists and sneak in the shadows between dozens of enemies. Shadow Tactics is a hardcore tactical stealth game set in Japan around the Edo period.
